Planner:
The planner needs to be used and brought to all classes every day. Students should consistently write their homework, or a summary of the lesson, and important events into the planner. We would also like parents to read and sign the planner daily. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their parent signs the planner each night.
Homework:
It is expected that homework assignments will be completed and handed in at the start of each class.
Assignments that are late or incomplete will result in a note in the planner and/or a phone call home. The late work is to be completed by the NEXT school day, regardless of which teacher is there. Each teacher has her own "late tub" where assignments can be handed in. If homework is consistently late or incomplete, the student will be sent to a supervised "Homework Club" at noon.
Absences:
If a student was away when assignments were given, they should check the "While you were away" folder under their divisions's OUT tub in the classroom when they return to school. The Classroom Correspondent will help to explain the assignment if the teacher is busy or it is not her teaching day. Students are expected to do their best to come prepared for the next class (e.g. tests, homework)
If a student is away when an assignment is handed back, it will be placed in the OUT tub for each division.
Washroom:
Students should use the washroom during locker and lunch breaks. If the washroom is needed during class, students should ask the teacher during an appropriate time (not during instructions/lessons) and sign out on the sheet placed on the whiteboard ledge. Only one person should be out of the room at a time.
Expectations and Procedures:
• All supplies should be brought to class each day - binder, planner, notebooks, duotangs, pen/pencil, silent reading material, scissors and felts/pencil crayons.
• Students are expected to be respectful and polite.
• When waiting for a class to dismiss, students should wait quietly in a line against the wall.
• Students should not enter the classroom until invited in by the teacher.
• Students should be seated quickly, open their books, and be ready to listen after entering the classroom.
Consequences when expectations are not met:
1st time - name on the board (Penalty Box) as a warning
2nd time - check mark beside name. Student will spend some time after school with the teacher, and faces the possibility of a new desk location.
